From KRIS 1 to KRIS 4

The Evolution of an Industry 4.0 Pioneer Solution

The history of KRIS is closely linked to the development of modern Industry 4.0 applications. Since the early 1990s, KRIS has shaped the path from initial systematic data collection to web-based solutions and highly flexible, modular platforms. Each generation has brought decisive technological advances—from the visualization of production data to the integration of the latest web and cloud technologies. This continuous innovation process impressively demonstrates how an initial vision has developed into a powerful tool for the industry of tomorrow.

1994: KRIS 1 – First Industry 4.0 solution

In 1994, KRIS 1 was developed as the first Industry 4.0 solution, representing an important step in the automation and digitization of industrial production. This solution made it possible to systematically collect and analyze various production data. With the help of the new technology, data could be visualized in the form of curves, which greatly simplified the monitoring and evaluation of production processes. In addition, messages were generated to indicate deviations or problems in the production process at an early stage. Detailed logs could also be created. A key advantage of KRIS 1 was its seamless integration into the VisControl control system, which ensured central control and monitoring of production processes. This innovation laid the foundation for modern Industry 4.0 applications and marked a significant advance in automation technology.

2002: Web@KRIS - Web Application Development

In 2001, Web@KRIS client/server web technology was introduced, representing a significant step forward in the development of web-based applications. This technology made it possible to use various functions efficiently and user-friendly directly via the browser. The key features of Web@KRIS included the integration of graphs, messages, and logs, which enabled data to be displayed in a simple and clear manner. Users could thus access and evaluate real-time information directly in the browser.

In addition, new functions were introduced that further improved the ease of use and flexibility of the application. Thanks to seamless integration into the browser, it was no longer necessary to install separate software, which significantly simplified use and increased the overall efficiency of the web application. Web@KRIS thus offered a modern, future-oriented solution for communication and data evaluation on the web.

2004: KRIS2 - First Self Developed Application Based on Java

In 2004, KRIS2 was developed, the first standalone application based on Java. This new software included significant features that greatly improved the efficiency and precision of data processing. Particularly noteworthy was the introduction of batch-based data. In addition to time-related data, KRIS2 enabled more precise analysis by relating data directly to the respective product. This innovation helped to monitor production processes in greater detail and optimize quality assurance.

2012: KRIS3 - Switch to Microsoft.Net Technology

In 2012, the KRIS3 system switched to Microsoft .NET technology. This decision brought several advantages: On the one hand, development was significantly simplified, as the .NET platform offers a more user-friendly programming environment. Secondly, it was no longer necessary to install the software, which made the system much easier to use and enabled users to use it more quickly and easily.

2025: KRIS 4—Redesigned and Modernized

In 2025, KRIS 4 will be presented in a completely new guise. The system has been redesigned from the ground up and impresses with innovative technology and a user-friendly, powerful architecture.

This is KRIS 4:

  • Completely redesigned web interface and backend: KRIS 4 has been completely reprogrammed, both in the frontend and backend. The modern web interface ensures intuitive operation, while the powerful server backend guarantees stable and fast performance.
  • New workspace – more flexibility and control: The new workspace offers a central working environment that is flexible and customizable. Users can adapt their workspace to their specific needs in order to work more efficiently.
  • All-new technology for improved performance: By using the latest technologies, KRIS 4 takes the user experience to a new level. The system is faster, more stable, and more secure, making it ideal for modern working environments.
  • New possibilities thanks to modular structure: The modular structure of KRIS 4 opens up new possibilities for integration and expansion. This makes it easy to integrate additional functions and external services, thereby increasing the flexibility of the system.
  • Quick selection function for apps: With the new quick selection function, apps can be launched directly and without detours. This saves time and ensures faster access to the most important functions.
  • Interactive widgets in the lower part of the workspace: The lower part of the workspace can be customized with widgets. These widgets can be freely positioned and resized. Whether energy management dashboards, monitoring solutions, or specific applications—everything can be displayed centrally here. External HTML5-based widgets, such as PRTG for monitoring, can also be easily integrated. This gives users a comprehensive overview of all relevant information at a glance.
