Automated transfer of data from PCS 7

Tag import

Perfect Interaction Between KRIS and PCS 7

With Tag import, you can combine the advantages of the Siemens PCS 7 and WinCC systems with the power of KRIS – and save valuable time during project planning. This innovative tool enables all modules and instances to be transferred directly from the PCS 7 database to KRIS – without any time-consuming intermediate steps. A simple mouse click is all it takes to seamlessly link the systems and significantly reduce project planning time.

Automated data transfer from PCS 7 to KRIS

Data structures remain consistent right down to the hardware plan

Manual linking of global databases is completely eliminated

Automation minimizes the risk of configuration errors

Perfect Structure and Seamless Data Transfer

Tag import goes beyond mere data transfer: thanks to intelligent structuring, all relevant data from PCS 7 – such as plant codes (AKZ), comments, measuring ranges, and units – is organized in KRIS according to the technological hierarchy.

Consistency and continuity across both systems

Features:

  • Dynamic updates: Changes in PCS 7 can be quickly and easily transferred to KRIS at any time.
  • Automated curve groups: Curves and curve groups are created for each instance based on the hierarchy in PCS 7.
  • Consistency and continuity: Parameterization remains synchronized in both systems at all times.
  • Optimized data structures: From the measuring point in the field to the trend group – for seamless plant operation and reduced maintenance costs.
  • Individual adjustments: Even after import, curve groups can be compiled manually and flexibly.

How Tag import works

KRIS Tag import uses information from an existing PCS 7 project. This project is created on the Engineering Station, the program is loaded onto the controllers, and the visualization is transferred to the WinCC database (OS server). The WinCC database stores all data required to display the program, such as measuring ranges, locations, and technical hierarchies.

Tag import connects to the WinCC database, reads this information, and automatically creates matching data points with the same structure in KRIS. This ensures that the data between WinCC and KRIS always remains consistent. TagImport transfers the information either once or as needed, e.g., when a new plant component is added.

The data points are assigned a DB address, which is used for continuous reading and writing via the plant bus. Additional data, such as the location or unit, is transferred once from the WinCC database or directly from the controllers. If anything changes, Tag import must be run again to update the data.

Why KRIS

Advantages of KRIS Tag import

Time savings through automation: Faster project planning and elimination of manual work

Error reduction and reliability: Minimization of input and linking errors as well as consistent data

More efficient plant structure: Consistent data hierarchy and optimized plant overview

Flexibility in the event of changes: Adjustments in PCS 7 can be updated in KRIS, and individual adjustments can be configured at any time

Cost savings: Reduced maintenance costs and lower project planning effort
